This course aims to introduce students to central issues and concepts in the development of art and its interpretation, enabling students to understand the origins of visual language and evaluate its subsequent impact in diverse cultural contexts. 

The module covers visual language and the principles of art, artistic practice and modes of interpretation, origins and subsequent impact of these concepts in a range of cultural manifestations, strategies for reading texts and images.
