This course offers an in depth study on selected themes within Modernism as it develops toward Post-Modernism, in Africa and internationally through a critical analysis of the ideas of artists, architects and critics who contributed to the rise of Modernism.
Theoretical debates around Postmodernism will be investigated, including but not limited to the impact of mass culture, the construction of gender in visual material, feminist artistic practices and postcolonial critique
