This module helps students to develop a good understanding of selected current theoretical issues pertaining to the interpretation of African Art, with a focus on art from South Africa.  African art has been shaped by various belief systems and ideological positions.  This module examines contemporary African art practice in light of such issues, with an emphasis on current theoretical and practical trends in African art.
